i wear my winter coat unzipped
i pull my indiana jones hat over my left eye
i don't have my gloves on
i look cool
at least to myself
truth be told
i'm cold

long hair

and
a bare belly

he lies on his back
between my legs

front paws resting on his chest
back legs extended

with an occasional twitch
or stretch

totally at peace
skippy sleeping

There is a fog inside my mind
From too little sleep
And too much caffeine
Everything has a jagged edge
And is brightly muted
I sit at the keyboard
And struggle through dictionaries
Of jumbled feelings
As I try to compose myself
For the long haul

Today I’m not particular
I just need some clarity
Maybe I just need to go to the car
And turn on the radio
That always puts me in a better place
